Best place to keep a First Aid Kit

What is the best place to keep a First Aid Kit?

We are huge believers that a first aid kit should be within reach at all times. You truly never know when an accident will happen. We think that you should have multiple different first aid kits stored in multiple different places. It only takes 60 seconds of uncontrolled blood loss to start having motor function deficit. It takes on average 5-7 minutes for first responders to reach you. There is no way to forecast when or where an accident or injury will occur. If we could we wouldn’t be behind the screen pounding away at the keys. So with that fact in place lets talk about where you should keep a first aid kit.

In your house.

One of the primary places to keep a first aid kit is in your house. This is where you spend a disproportionate amount of time, especially during these Covid times we are at home more than ever. With us being home more than ever you are bound to encounter more injuries while at home. When your kid crashes their bike and they come in covered in blood you will have what you need to make them feel better. A great place to stash one is in the kitchen. Whether you are cooking and cut your finger or arm or burn yourself the kitchen is always the center of the house and thus it will be in close reach.

In your car.

In your car is another great place to keep your first aid kit. When you travel out or when you go to the park you will always have your first aid kit with you. We drive everywhere as Americans. We take our kids to the park, we drive to Disney, and we drive across the county to see family. Or if you are in a car accident you can access your first aid kit prior to EMS arrival if needed.

In your garage

In your garage is a fantastic place as well. Lots of people work on their cars, clean their guns or have little projects they tinker with on an almost daily basis. This way if you get injured while downstairs you don’t have to bleed all over the house trying to find your first aid kit.

In your backpack

We travel with a backpack quite frequently. If we are going camping, mountain biking, to school, or on vacation we have a backpack with us. Once you have a bag to put a first aid kit in it really expands the options of what you can carry. If you are looking for a backpacking first aid kit check our Adventure Mini EDC If you have a bag with MOLLE attachments you don’t even have to take up space inside when you have a MOLLE compatible first aid bag like our IFAK  Standard or Trauma Solo

On your person.

On you is possibly my favorite location to carry a first aid kit. I love carrying the Adventure Mini EDC  (pictured below) on me. The Adventure Mini EDC make a the perfect pocket fist aid kit. It fits nicely into my back pocket and has everything I need to handle a wide variety of accidents and injuries. Having a fist aid kit on you at all times ensures that you will have what you need when the time arises. Sometimes it may be inconvenient or uncomfortable but like we discussed earlier you never know when or where you will need one.
